For immediate release: Chico ISD Board of Trustees calls bond to include safety, maintenance, and renovation. 

The Chico ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the District’s Facility Committee to call for a $12,000,000 bond package for the May 2024 Election. 

The bond package was developed and recommended by the Committee representing a cross-section of the community, including local citizens, civic and business leaders, parents, and school staff. The committee studied a district-wide facility assessment, demographics, enrollment projections, and district financial information and toured all campuses.   Over five months, members met to assess and prioritize key areas of focus, which included safety and security for all campuses, potential new facilities as well as maintenance and renovations to existing campuses before making their recommendation.

If approved by the voters, the bond will be used to finance the construction of Maintenance renovation, up-to-date safety and security, and athletic replacement. 

The bond will have two propositions:

Prop A -$10,500,000. Maintenance and security: Key areas focus base of funding (roofs, HVAC, flooring, windows [MS], keyless entry scanners, district vehicle)

Prop B -$1,500,000.  Athletics: Key areas focus base of funding (track resurface / replacement, field sprinkler system, grass replacement, weight room equipment, ADA sidewalk, mower, gator)

Election Day is set for Saturday, May 4, and early voting runs from April 22 through April 30.
